IBERIA AND SPAIN'S FUTURE

  Transport and communication systems are fundamental in any country’s economy. They affect all commercial activity and are the foundation for all economic development. 

  Spain benefits from a strategically important geographical location; Iberia is the only company that can provide connectivity between 4 continents – Europe, America, Africa and Asia – while protecting Spanish interests. It is not only a question of tourism; Iberia is the engine of the Spanish economy. Unfortunately, apparent mismanagement has brought Iberia to the edge of an existential cliff: British Airways’ pension problem is so grave that it seems necessary to dismantle Iberia in order to solve it.

 

  Despite this, it is still possible to end the merger between Iberia and British Airways. This appears to be the only course of action that will prevent the disappearance of Iberia and save Spain from a looming commercial abyss. The value of Iberia to Spain is incalculable. We should not allow the commercial future of Spain to be in foreign hands.
